Man Utd Transfers: 10 Flops Who Must Follow David Moyes Out Of Old Trafford

10. Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand's centre-back colleague Nemanja Vidic will be leaving at the end of the season to join Inter Milan on a free, and the end of Ferdinand's United career cannot be far away either. The veteran defender will be out of contract in June, and at 35, has suffered with injury and lack of fitness for much of the year, limiting him to just two full league appearances since 24th November. Rio has been a loyal servant to the club, and, alongside Vidic, has formed the bedrock of which much of United's past successes have been built on. But he is not the player he used to be, and can no longer be relied upon for the big occasions - case in point being the fact David Moyes left him at home for last weekend's visit to Everton. United's whole back-line is probably going to have to be re-built over the summer and, with the exception of Rafael at right-back, the club's rear-guard is in dire straits. There can be no room for Rio Ferdinand in these rebuilding plans.
