Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Last Christmas Was The Perfect Waking Dream

A dream come true.

this post contains spoilers for the Doctor Who 2014 Christmas Special. Last Christmas is a bittersweet walk through a world of subverted reality. Everything fans see is a veil and dreams must be parted like pieces of cloth in order to find what truly lies underneath. The Dream Crabs themselves are flesh wrapped around pretty little lies that eat away at their victims' brains until they no longer see what lies plain in front of them. They are deadly and seductive because escaping from their grasp only happens when one is willing to face the reality of a life that may not be all one would like. The Christmas season is a time of expectations - both fulfilled and otherwise. They are curious fusions of joy and disappointment as society manoeuvres its way through the potential minefield of business and social obligation, and the Doctor Who Christmas special is no different. It must attempt to please both the fervent fan and casual viewer alike by telling a compelling and coherent story that works on multiple levels. So, is Last Christmas a riveting hour of scintillating conversation or a mindless milieu of crushing boredom? Let€™s find out.
