Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Why Peter Capaldi Will Be Brilliant As The 12th Doctor

large-malcolm-tucker-interview The moment's finally here. Ever since Matt Smith announced back in June that he would be leaving the beloved role of the Doctor, the internet's been buzzing about who would be his replacement. Are they going to go for an older type? Stick to the 20s-30s age range? Continue the era of white men playing the show, or branch out with the first black Doctor or, heavens forfend, a female Doctor? We're Doctor Who fans, so of course we've all got an opinion. And last night, we find out who will take their place as the twelfth Doctor. It's...PETER CAPALDI! Personally, I think this is wonderful casting. He's a skilled actor who's proven himself on a number of different projects. Here are my top five reasons why he's going to be fantastic as the next Doctor.

5. He's A Recognizable, High Profile, TALENTED Actor

doctor-who-peter-capaldi When rumors of Peter Capaldi taking the role first started circulating, a lot of people wrote them off because of how well known he is. Surely he would be too expensive, and it would be hard to work around a busy man's schedule. And I think we're all in agreement that it's ideal to have an actor who can commit to more than one year as the Doctor. Sure, Capaldi would be wonderful as the Doctor, if we're doing fantasy casting. But could it ever really work? The fact that they've gotten him says a lot about the caliber of the show, and can only take it to new heights. While an unknown actor would have had the mystery appeal, having such a popular, high profile actor as the Doctor can only increase the brand's respectability both at home and abroad. High profile and perfect for the role. I know, right? I never thought it would happen either.
