4. He's 55

I was never one of the people who was shouting from the rooftops that we absolutely needed to have an older Doctor. If the best actor for the role was in his 20s, fine. If he was in his 50s, that's fine too. In this case, the best man for the job is 55 year old Peter Capaldi. While Matt Smith and David Tennant brought a youthful energy to the role, Capaldi is a tried and true veteran who will have a completely new spin on the role. Some might worry, oh boy, he's the oldest Doctor since Jon Pertwee, is he really going to be able to keep up with the grueling shooting schedule? Rest your hearts, friends: Capaldi is an marathon runner, and can probably run circles around me and at least half of my readership. It will be nice to see a Doctor with quite a visible contrast from the last, to remind audiences that the Doctor can change dramatically as he regenerates.
