Doctor Who: 7 Actors Who Should Play The 12th Doctor

matt-smith_doctor_who11 This a follow-up to one of my previous articles, wherein I discussed 7 Showrunners Who Should Take Over After Steven Moffat. But of course, what garners even more attention is the changing of lead roles... the actor playing The Doctor himself. So today we'll be taking a look at seven equally good candidates to take on the role. Each of these actors would bring something different or unique to the role, and are a variety of ages. However, please bear in mind that we'll be keeping these suggestions within the boundaries of the previous Doctors. Namely, male actors from the UK or nearby areas. This is not to say that anyone that doesn't meet these standards would make a bad choice for the role, this is simply the standard as of now.

7. Clive Standen

clive standenStanden hasn't been an actor for a very long time (under a decade) but has already racked up an impressive resume. He's well known to fans of the BBC1 series Robin Hood, wherein he played Archer, the brother of Robin Hood. He's also appeared as a soldier of UNIT in three episodes of Doctor Who - The Sontaran Stratagem, The Poison Sky, and Turn Left. However, he is arguably best known for his role in the Starz network series Camelot. He appeared in all ten episodes, playing Sir Gawain, a former knight who has lost his way, until Arthur invites him to join the knights of Camelot. Eventually he accepts and also begins to train Arthur's men. I particularly like him as a candidate because of how much experience he has in a variety of roles, while not quite being a major name in the business (much like Matt Smith was).
