The big news in the Whoniverse this week is the reveal that Michelle Gomez's totally bananas incarnation of the Master, Missy, is back for a rematch against the Twelfth Doctor in Series 9's two-part opener The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar (and to celebrate, here are 10 pictures that epitomise her madness!). Fans may have only seen her recently in last year's finale, but this can only be good news as Missy was one of the highlights of Series 8 - although it also raises the question of what other characters from Doctor Who past are due for a comeback. Doctor Who has always been a show unafraid to draw from its own history but this year there's more reason to do so than normal. Rather than simply pandering to fans, as some might accuse it of, including some familiar faces in Series 9 would be a good way to mark the revived series' tenth anniversary. Obviously, the show doesn't need another 50th anniversary extravaganza - though fans certainly wouldn't complain if they got one - but a nice nod to NuWho reaching double figures would be great and, if it doesn't happen, notable by its absence.
