Leaving for the WWF in 1991, Ric Flair was told by Vince McMahon that he was free to renegotiate with WCW again by 1993. Looking at the promotion's landscape in terms of star power at the time, the 'Nature Boy' was badly needed. Straight away, he'd become WCW's top babyface.

Returning to a heroic reception, it wouldn't be long before Ric was back in the top line mix. Come Starrcade in December, he was ready to fill the underdog role against the monstrous Big Van Vader. With his career on the line, Flair had to beat Vader for the WCW World Title.

Throughout his career, Ric Flair had been the epitome of a brash heel. To his credit, he was able to fill the cherished babyface role too, helped in no small part by Vader's incredible presence. Longtime WCW fans were tripping over one another to see Flair dispatch the big man and take his rightful place at the top of the mountain.

A super-charged crowd in Flair's billed hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina was full of emotion when Ric pulled off the win. WCW didn't get a lot of credit in 1993, making this moment even more special.
