12 months after the disappointment of the 2014 show, WWE somehow managed to put together an even more disastrous Royal Rumble match. And again, it’s difficult to pinpoint a single contributing factor because the whole thing was a mess from start to finish.

Though this time we did get to see Daniel Bryan show up, he was dumped out like an absolute chump during the early part of the match. Bray Wyatt had been the man to take him out, and though he went on to put in a decent shift, his 47-minute run was ended unceremoniously by two aging veterans in the form of Big Show and Kane. The pair also limply tossed out Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler, leaving fans without anyone to really get behind in the match.

Other regrettable moments included Titus O’Neil botching his attempt to tie the record for the fastest-ever elimination, taking four seconds to be dispatched by Ambrose and Roman Reigns rather than tumbling out immediately.

And then to close out an evening of ill-advised booking, Reigns ended the match victorious, with fans so upset that not even the surprise return of the Rock could prevent them from booing the pair out of the building for the PPV’s close scene.

When the Rock makes his return to anything other than pandemonium, you know you’ve done something badly wrong…
