Batista's World Heavyweight Championship reign wasn't exactly off to the greatest of starts. The match where he'd won the gold from Triple H, and the inevitable Backlash rematch, were both 'decent' at best. Given the quality of workers on the roster at the time, Batista was going to have to level up performance-wise to justify being seen as a top-shelf heavyweight monster.

The Cell match was a perfect remedy, with he and Triple H bleeding profusely through a war that included barbed wire weaponry (a barbed wire-wrapped steel chair!), and a clever spot where Batista hit a diving Helmsley with a sledgehammer maul to the Adam's apple. Batista won the blow-off match with a Batista Bomb, completing his greatest match to date by far.
