When Angle's WWF Championship reign began two months prior at No Mercy, he was still portrayed as an oblivious milk-and-cookies dork that needed his vague lookalike brother Eric to help him beat The Undertaker. The notion of Angle taking on five angry heavyweights ('Taker, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and Rikishi) planted the seed that Angle couldn't possibly survive with his gold in tact.

The most memorable spot was Undertaker chokeslamming Rikishi off of the cage and into the bed of a conveniently-placed pick-up truck filled with wood chips, for which one has to appreciate the convolutedness required to get to that point. Angle did retain the gold, but prior to the finish, the match was pretty much non-stop brawling, fitting for the energy of the era.
