The triple threat match with Raven vs. DDP vs. Chris Benoit at Uncensored 1998 may be better remembered, but two of those three men put on a solid singles encounter two months before that at Souled Out.

WCW didn’t hype their match much, which is a shame as they put on one hell of an effort, and in a different dimension, the two could have main-evented that show.

Okay, so the fight did lack a bit of logic as it was no DQ, but The Flock was barred from ringside. So if they interfered...what would happen exactly? Also, in one of the most idiotic moves of the '90s, Benoit headbutted Raven who had a chair over his head, basically knocking himself out from the jump. Not sure what he was going for on that one. Besides those gaps in common sense, they put on a great brawl.

The Crippler was his usual ridiculously intense self, ripping off Raven’s shirt and then chopping the hell out of his chest before hitting some brutal suplexes. It was two young, motivated, under-appreciated talent giving it their all and (despite no real storyline support) winning over the crowd.

The end saw the sadistic Raven locked in the Crossface, and actually smiling right before he passed out. It was WCW’s undercard at its best.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
