WWE Draft 2024: 5 Things That Will Happen (And 5 That WON’T!)

Triple H could make the second half of 2024 one hell of a lot easier if he puts pieces in the right places during the upcoming WWE Draft. The guesses are in on who will be heading where, and it's fair to say 'The Game' has a few problems to solve over the next few weeks. Hopefully, he meets that challenge head on.

People know what they're getting with WWE's drafting process by now. A few major stars will shuffle around the board, and this is one of those times every year when Shawn Michaels can point to his NXT brand as a hotbed for company future proofing. How about Raw and SmackDown names going the other way though? Is that on the cards?

Anything is possible, or should be possible. It's highly unlikely anyone Trips truly cares about will be sent to HBK's developmental wing, to be fair. That doesn't mean Michaels and NXT GM Ava can't steal some of the Draft spotlight for themselves somewhere.

Here's everything that will and won't happen across Draft-obsessed special TV episodes on 26 and 29 April. These show scripts are probably fairly easy to cobble together for the writers, but will only work in execution if they get a few key points right. 

Roman Reigns is away filming stuff, and The Rock has slinked into the background of WWE's product for now. That leaves Cody Rhodes standing proudly as the torchbearer for Triple H. The new WWE Champion is the top star in the entire company right now, and he's likely to get the top pick treatment in the Draft too.

It'd be a surprise if Cody wasn't announced as SmackDown's latest full-time acquisition. After all, his World Title is considered more of a blue brand concern due to Roman's lineage, and Raw already has Damian Priest's World Heavyweight belt anyway. The flagship sure doesn't need two male main champs.

Prediction: Rhodes will be announced as SmackDown GM Nick Aldis' core asset on Friday nights going forwards. It might be tough for creative to think about scripting three hour Raw episodes without Cody, but they're gonna have to. He's ready to grab SmackDown by the nuts and make it his stomping ground permanently.
