4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (29 Jun - Results & Review)
1. Iyo The Underdog
Having the challenger defeat the champion in a high-profile PLE match to earn a title opportunity isn’t a typical way to build a marquee SummerSlam match, but that’s exactly what WWE is doing with Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan.
The challenge is making the feud feel fresh, unpredictable, and lively. Monday’s rollout was a solid enough effort, with Iyo expressing gratitude to fans, and Morgan jumping on Sky for “taking advantage” of the situation in beating her at Night of Champions (read: following through with their match after Danhuausen had cursed Liv).
Liv proceeded to run down others who had run afoul of The Judgment Day – Finn Balor, Stephanie Vaquer, Rhea Ripley – and promised to make Iyo’s life a lot worse. Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez surrounded the ring and attacked, eventually overpowering the Genius of the Sky, conducting a three-on-one assault and targeting the challenger’s knee.
It’s clear that Iyo is going to be on the defensive every week between now and SummerSlam (and at the PLE itself), which will present several challenges for her. Hopefully, they can continue that momentum for the next month and will deliver a better match than what they produced last weekend.
