10 Amazing Comic Book Redesigns That Didn't Last

7. The Many Stylings Of Cowan's Question

The Question Annual 1
DC Comics/Denys Cowan

Ask DC fans what the Question's most typical outfit is, and they're likely to point out the fedora-wearing, trenchoat-clad figure that he's commonly depicted as. However, while that look is fairly iconic, it was dated three decades ago - hence why it's still a little weird to see Vic Sage still wearing a uniform no one would be caught dead in these days.

There's something to be said about formal crimefighting attire, but one of the coolest things about the Question series from the eighties was that Vic switched up his look on the fly. His costume is, in essence, just the pseudoderm mask that hides his facial features and dyes his hair a different colour; he should be able to throw on all sorts of clothes to go with it.

And for a while, the Question did. Shirts, jumpers, tank-tops, bomber jackets and trucker hats were all in Vic's wardrobe during the eighties, and it's high-time they made a comeback.

Well, maybe not in a vintage kind of way. The point is the Question used to be on the pulse of fashion. It's high-time DC restored him as their most stylish figure.
