9. Superman (DC Comics)
Let's get another obvious example out of the way quickly by getting to Superman. Superman hails from the planet Krypton, but was brought up on Earth by his adopted parents Martha and Jonathan Kent. He became known as Clark Kent and lived a relatively normal life whilst growing up on their farm in Smallville. However, he was far from normal as, in Earth's atmosphere under the glow of a yellow sun, he developed numerous superpowers. These included super strength, superspeed, invulnerability, flight, freeze breath and, of course, heat vision. Superman can emit rays of extreme heat from his eyes. These rays have proven so hot, so powerful and so wide-angled that they have, on occasion, been used to heat an entire planet. And, of course, he uses them frequently as a weapon in battle. Of course, this ability applies to every Kryptonian in DC Comics (though it would be very boring to include a list full of Kryptonian characters, so Superman will be the only one), so the likes of Supergirl, General Zod and Superboy all have this ability and all of Superman's other abilities.
