10 Comic Characters You Won't Believe Joined The Fantastic Four

5. She-Thing (Sharon Ventura)

First appearing in 1985's The Thing #27, Sharon Ventura (initially known as Ms Marvel) was inspired by Ben Grimm to become a superhero. To enhance her strength, she joined the Power Broker's power augmented program, and thanks to Cosmic rays she later resembled a female version of The Thing.

Sharon's tenure on the FF team was short-lived, as she helped the group battle Diablo in Fantastic Four #306. Later, she betrayed the team to side with Doctor Doom in the hopes that Doom could cure her appearance - though she inevitably came to her senses and once more joined ranks with the Fantastic Four.

Being the tyrant that he is, Doctor Doom retaliated by spitefully mutating Sharon further for her betrayal.

In more recent years, She-Thing has been used less and less, to the point that post-Secret Wars Sharon was spotted as a background character in her original human appearance in Sam Wilson: Captain America #15.
