10 Disturbing Times Superheroes Lost It

4. The X-Men Murder Every Blue Mutant - Marvel Mangaverse

The Marvel Mangaverse was an experiment with mixed results. While something like Manga Fantastic Four was a fun re-imagining of a classic team, Manga X-Men was a bizarre mish-mash of half-baked ideas thrown together with disappointing results.

This version of the X-Men team is headed up by Wolverine and Cyclops, who are maybe brothers and who maybe got into a fight so bad as children that one lost an eye and one lost an arm. The group dynamics, along with almost everything else in this one-shot comic, are very unclear.

What is also unclear is why we should be rooting for this version of the X-Men. While the X-Men we know and love fight as peacefully as they can for mutant rights, these Manga-fied mutants murder every other mutant they meet without a second thought.

When fighting the Azure, a group of exclusively blue-skinned mutants made almost entirely of ex-X-Men members, our brave and virtuous heroes show no mercy. The first chance she gets, Storm uses a lightning blast to burn Mystique down to a charred skeleton. Cyclops explodes Beast with a massive optic blast. Wolverine stabs Nightcrawler through the head with his laser-infused claws.

All in all, the Mangaverse is not a good place to be a blue mutant.
