10 Greatest Marvel/DC Team-Ups

5. Batman/Daredevil: King of New York

For those who prefer their superheroes street-level and gritty (well, relatively - they're still wearing cowls), this is the DC/Marvel crossover for you. Alan Grant and Eduardo Barreto tell a story that brings Bruce Wayne to New York City, where the Scarecrow has teamed up with the Kingpin to terrorise the city together. Together, that is, until Scarecrow double-crosses his partner and Wilson Fisk has to go running to his nemesis Daredevil for help. Together with him and Bats, they fight New York's newly-crowned master criminal and their own fears. There are plenty of fun moments to be had in this comic, from Batman interrupting Daredevil's surveillance of a trade between Catwoman and some of the Kingpin's goons to the heroes fighting each other's villains in the Statue of Liberty. The two heroes share a similar aesthetic and work well on the page together, suiting dark, moody cityscapes and terse dialogue. That's probably why they were both used by Frank Miller so much, who's famous for yet another comic about the gruff, violent inhabitants of a grim city...
