10 Greatest Members Of Wildstorm's The Authority

Cooler, darker, more cult...

In the history of comics there have been many amazing teams; The Avengers, The X-Men, The Justice League and The Authority. If you don't know who The Authority are then what you need to do is take the wholesome underpants on the outside, chin dimpled, cape flapping in the wind stereotype of what a superhero is and throw it in the bin....go on, right in the bin, close the lid...now let me educate you.

The team is the creation of the comic book power coupling of writer Warren Ellis and artist Bryan Hitch, though built upon by many other heavy hitters such as Mark Millar, Frank Quitely, Ed Brubaker and Dustin Nguyen.

The Authority is based in a world where the line between heroes and villains is so blurred that not even Robin Thicke would be sure about it. So let's look at the sum of the authoritaytive...authoritative?....the team members that make up the sum of the super parts...let's do the countdown of the top 10 Authority members!

Let's start this with the Spirit of Murder (I told you the lines were blurred).

Originally a foe of the team in her first two incarnations, the original being killed before The Authority was even a thing by one of its future members Jack Hawksmoor (more about him later) after she did the same to others at the behest of long-time evil swinebag Henry Bendix.

She was then reincarnated and this Rose actually killed the doctor, Jeroen Thornedike during… well… during the no pants dance, poisoning him with her... erm... loving cuddles.

She then committed numerous murders once again for Henry Bendix until The OTHER Doctor, Habib Ben Hassan, used his magic to change her into the Spirit of Life.

She then fought alongside the team until she was forced back into her original role by Henry Bendix once more. Luckily, she finally turns on him but at the cost of her own life... until she's reincarnated again.

Clearly, the Spirit of Murder is one tough cookie.
