10 Image Graphic Novels You Must Read Before You Die

1. Saga, Volume 1

Brian K. Vaughan pops up on this list once more with his amazing series, Saga. With only 50+ issues in print, Saga quickly established a rich and diverse universe all its own revolving around a futuristic sci-fi adventure mashing up themes like Romeo & Juliet (if they didn't die at the end) and the Lord of the Rings.

Saga takes the reader on an adventure alongside the main characters consisting of two warriors from opposite sides of the battlefield. When the two fall in love and have a child, they broke laws, traditions, and the natural order of the universe, which forced the entire galaxy to hunt them down and eliminate them.

The amazing creatures, characters, and world(s) created by Vaughan in this series are beautifully illustrated by Fiona Staples whose brilliant style was clearly made to tell stories like this one.

The first volume collects the series' first six issues detailing the romance, the birth, the escape, and all the primary characters involved in their hunt. It's a wonderful read and one you won't mind going back to time and time again.
