9. Batman/ The Incredible Hulk

Although technically less a crossover and more an epic dual between two titans of the comics industry, Batman vs. The Incredible Hulk has to be spoken about.

As two titans of the comics franchises, it comes as no surprise that Batman and Hulk have faced off against each other within the pages of their own spinoff. Given that Hulk is essentially a cooler Kirk Langstrom there isn’t even the worry the two universes don’t combine together properly.

No, what makes the issue so special are the surreal qualities outside of the comic itself, as Batman vs. The Incredible Hulk was the second ever DC Marvel crossover, the first being Superman vs. Spiderman five years prior. There’s something about knowing that the issue is a crossover not just between two characters, but two different franchises entirely, that makes seeing the Green Giant and Dark Knight duke it out an almost unbelievable experience to behold.

On the plus, the success of these initial crossovers paved the way for a whole host of weird and wonderful comics over the years, so in a way we should be grateful this entry happened in the first place... or full of regret (it’s open to interpretation).
