10 Insane Batman Crossovers You Won't Believe Existed
8. Batman & Lobo
One of the most tried and tested crossover concepts has seen publishers pit two heroes with contrasting moral compasses against each other. This is probably best shown by the two different crossovers involving Lobo – in one, Lobo and Batman are unlikely teammates, and in the other, Lobo will stop at nothing to kill the Caped Crusader.
The dynamic between the two is admittedly interesting, as comics usually feature a clash of morals between the stoic superhero and the untamed assassin. This is also both crossovers’ key problem, as the cartoonish, outlandish violence that is a key trait of any comic with Lobo in just doesn’t quite work either within Gotham, or with a character who is supposed to be teaming up with Batman.
Whether that be because he only works as the stoic foil to any Joker-like antics, or because both comics contain art styles that make iconic characters like Batman and Joker look like offensive caricatures for politicians who don’t exist is unclear.
What is clear, however, is that so long as you are ready for some jarring tonal changes, both Batman/Lobo and Batman/Lobo: Deadly Serious must be seen to be believed.
