The 2014 story begins with Bruce Wayne going about his day when Wonder Woman appears out of nowhere and assaults him.
When the Amazonian declares the Justice League have been sent to kill him, Bruce naturally assumes his friends have been brainwashed. Preparing for battle, Bats armours up in Fenrir; a robotic suit designed to take down the entire Justice League.
After immobilising Wonder Woman, Flash, and Aquaman, Superman appears before Batman with an all too familiar grin. As the Man of Steel cackles manically, Batman realises that the Joker has poisoned his friends to instinctively attack the people they love most. Worst still, the maniacal jester has infected all of Gotham with his new concoction, causing police officers, civilians, and superheroes to go on a murderous rampage.
In the world of comics, superheroes get mind-controlled all the time. But rarely in DC Comics have readers seen the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman attack their very own so viciously and gleefully. The most shocking thing about this story is that proved the Joker, a man with limited powers, was more than capable of holding his own against the best of the best.
