10 Marvel Characters Who Became Venom

6. Flash Thompson

Flash Thompson may have started out life as Peter Parker's biggest bully, but he went on to become one of the character's biggest allies.

Though Flash never took a liking to Parker, he idolised Spider-Man. The hero-worship got so big that Thompson even cites Spidey as his reason to enlist in the U.S. Army, which eventually leads to him taking part in the Iraq War and losing both his legs in the process.

Time would pass, with the veteran becoming an alcoholic in the wake of his military service. Given another chance at serving his country, however, Flash jumps at the chance, with the caveat being that he gets roped into a Black Ops program, and has to wear the symbiote to work in the field.

What followed made for one of the most interesting Venom stories ever - one that would take Flash all the way from the castles of Latveria, back to High School, and then all the way to the cosmos as a Space Knight with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

This was truly where the symbiote realised its potential for good, and though Flash is no longer wielding the suit, it's a period Spidey fans won't be forgetting anytime soon.
