10 METAL Moments From Dark Nights: Metal

What sets Dark Nights: Metal apart from other massive crossover stories is that it expands upon the known multiverse and adds another dimension.

That other dimension is the Dark Multiverse, an infinite realm of universes each constructed from every fear or bad decision one can imagine. It is explained that the Forger of Worlds uses the metal of creation (Element X) to construct every universe that exists. The stable universes join others in the Orrery, while the unstable ones were destroyed by the Forger's dragon, as was its duty.

One day the dragon, known as Barbatos, betrayed and killed the Forger, allowing a myriad of unstable worlds to survive. It is in this dark multiverse that Barbatos dwells and is able to lure Hawkman, Batman, & Superman inside.

Once both Bruce and Clark are trapped in the darkness, we truly see what horrors await as every fear both men ever imagined are manifested in front of them. Not only are our heroes subjected to every one of their nightmares, but it is revealed that they are relieving each nightmare, destined to die and be reborn, in a hellish cycle of monsters, murder and mayhem.
