10 Need-To-Know Facts About The Sensational She-Hulk
3. There Was Nearly A She-Hulk Movie
Because She-Hulk has been a fan-favourite since the get-go, readers are surprised it's taking so long for the gamma girl to make a live-action appearance. But during the 1990s, a She-Hulk adaptation was considered. Larry Cohen, best-known for directing horror flicks you've never heard of, wrote a script and prepared to direct a film adaptation revolving around the green superhero.
Sylvester Stallone's ex-wife, Brigitte Nielsen, was hired for the titular role and posed for some promo shots to get investors interested. (Some sources state that Nielsen was never considered, and was only hired for the marketing. Either way, she looked the part due to her muscular physique and towering height.)
Sadly, Cohen's campaign didn't attract enough attention to green-light a film. It may sound silly now but making a superhero movie during the 1990s was considered a huge gamble. At the time, Marvel were on the verge of bankruptcy, their direct-to-video Captain America film was panned, and producers weren't willing to invest in funding a movie about a lesser-known superhero.
Although she has yet to appear in a standalone movie, Kevin Feige has planned to have She-Hulk appear in several MCU films in some capacity in the future.
