10 Things Comic Fans Found Too Distracting

5. Real World Characters

Guy Fieri Batman 2016
DC Comics

Everyone likes a bit of a real world cameo in their comics now and then. Seeing Stan Lee and other comic creators in the worlds they helped build and popularise is always a nice touch, and it can even be interesting seeing celebrities briefly feature.

That is, so long as they're being who they say they are. Comic creators get a free pass because they're absolute scamps, but seeing anyone else that you can visually recognise from our world pop into a comic as someone they're not is one of the most accidentally jarring things imaginable.

Because you simply can't focus on the plot of comic when Guy Fieri is chilling out in it like he isn't the King of Flavourtown, but rather some random dude - as was the case in a delightfully strange little Batman moment.

Again, this isn't a bad moment, but goddamn if it doesn't make you forget every single detail you read in every page before sometimes. Batman who? Is he a friend of Guy Fieri's?

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
