10 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Wolverine
5. His Son Daken
Too often wrongly characterised as a punk caricature of Wolverine who's obsessed with his father, Daken is one of the more memorable of Wolverine's sires.
Born to a Japanese woman, Itsu, Akihiro "Daken" is his father's opposite in many respects: A refined, Machiavellian genius who taught himself Greek at age 10, a man who was able to outwit Norman Osborn, the X-Men, The Fantastic Four, among others, Daken is a manipulative, hyper-intelligent, seductive bisexual character who, while capable of empathy, is very selective with it. His hedonistic exploits and his goal to rule a shadowed empire even made for good reading in the Dark Wolverine run that segued into his own eponymous series.
He inherited Wolverine's bone claws and healing factor, with the addition of pheromones that he uses to influence others (but not mind control them). He despises being compared to his father and wants nothing to do with him, even when multiple writers pull him back into a caricature of 'daddy issues' that completely derail his character arc.
Currently, he's a close ally and loving brother to Laura's Wolverine, and while villainous in his disregard for others, is a loyal and faithful brother to Laura and Gabby.
