Carol Danvers is the talk of the town when it comes to Marvel. Her history as a character is an interesting one when you look back at how far she has come. Her story doesn't actually start with her, instead, it started with the Kree warrior known as Mar-Vell and the two have been intertwined ever since their conception in the early 1960s.

Considering how long she has been around, Carol only acquired the Captain Marvel title in 2014 with the help of writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artist Jamie McKelvie, who designed Carol's now iconic red and blue uniform.

From there, Carol has overtaken the original Captain Marvel honouring the warrior’s legacy from when he succumbed to cancer. Kelly Sue DeConnick has done such a good job that when you type in “Captain Marvel” on Google it comes up with Carol instead of Mar-Vell.
