10 Times Passing The Superhero Torch Was For The Better

3. Green Lantern

The original Green Lantern was far from what we know today as he leaned more into magic than the sci-fi genre. Able to fly, walk through walls and become invulnerable, Alan Scott was extremely powerful... just as long as you didn’t have a plank of wood at your side.

When the time came to reboot the character, DC Comics left GL's magical past behind, with Alan Scott being replaced by hot-shot test pilot Hal Jordan, and the rest is history.

Green Lantern quickly became one of the new front runners of DC Comics with his rich alien adventures being able to rival the likes of Superman. Green Lantern’s premise and powers were unique, with all this equipped, he quickly won the hearts of audiences being updated as a new kind of hero for a new kind of reader.

That, however, isn’t the end of the story. The charm of Green Lantern is that it's sort of an intergalactic space precinct, which means you don’t have to give the character a drastic reboot as DC did before. Instead, you can pick and choose which Lantern member you focus on as there are billions of cadets to write about.
