10 Underrated X-Men Characters Marvel Should Totally Be Using
4. Marrow
Okay, again, Marrow just looks badass. Her powerset sounds kind of dumb (she has extra bones that she can grow out of her body and remove to use as weapons and tools) but visually looks totally weird and cool in a kind of gross way.
Marrow was a former Morlock, a group of mutants whose appearances meant they couldn’t pass for ‘normal’ and who lived in hiding in the New York sewers. She grew up an angry teenager who would reject this notion of hiding away from the light and started committing terrorist attacks as part of the mutant terror cell Gene Nation.
Marrow would later wind up joining the X-Men and her drastically different upbringing and social outlook made her an interesting voice within the team. Coming across as kind of a punk, she could either be angry and sullen or impish and wry fun.
More recently, Marrow had a turn in X-Force, where she was given a harrowing new arc. Having lost her mutant powers during the mutant Decimation after House of M, she desperately sought a way to get them returned. Coming to an unscrupulous weapons dealer, she allows them to experiment on her and she regains her abilities. The only issue: she was pregnant at the time, and the procedure restores her powers but causes her to lose her baby.
This left Marrow seemingly a little off-kilter mentally, and filled with regret and anger, and while this was partially explored in that book by Si Spurrier, it again is something ripe for further expansion.
