18. Vision being revealed as Ultron's Conduit (Age Of Ultron #3)

In the Age of Ultron comics, Ultron has taken over the world, which now resembles a disaster zone for the most part (though some areas do have large technological structures in them, which are built somewhat in Ultron's own image). Early in the story. Spider-Man is being held hostage by the Owl and Hammerhead and it is revealed that they were offering Spider-Man as a sacrifice to ensure their own survival. Although the heroes in the story wonder why on Earth Ultron would deal with such low-rent villains in his world-ruling efforts, they see this as an opportunity. They send in Luke Cage and She-Hulk (who both volunteered), in the guise of sacrifices, but with the intention of causing some serious damage and getting some questions answered inside Ultron's fortress. When they arrive, they are guided in by some Ultron Sentinels. Expecting to meet with Ultron, Luke Cage and She-Hulk are shocked to find out that they are actually to negotiate with an old friend - Vision - who is being used by Ultron as a conduit through which he is punishing humankind from the future.
