5 Marvel Comics Fashion Disasters Of The 1970s!

5. Luke Cage

Hero For Hire The truth is that Luke Cage is the one guy on this list who can (almost) maintain his dignity despite a plunging v-neck. Arguably Marvel's most confident and charismatic hero, Luke makes any costume look good, and in the context of 1970s Marvel New York, Luke's outfit almost counts for appropriate dress. Almost. Luke makes the list because his outrageous combination of plunging yellow v-neck, chain-link belt, and metal headband is a look he picked for himself €” a concoction that he admitted was "kinda hokey" but a necessary price to pay to promote himself as a "hero for hire." He must have done something right, because Luke went on to have a long and distinguished superhero career, even leading the Avengers for a time! Luke Cage Luke's costume may all be "part of the superhero scene," but seeing as he has long since abandoned his yellow-and-blues for a simple (and somehow intimidating) plain t-shirt, it's safe to assume Luke would prefer his 1970s look remain lost to the past (though it might yet turn up when Luke debuts in his own Netflix TV series in 2015!)
