Writers David F. Walker and Sanford Greene teamed up with artist Chuck Brown in the fall of 2018 to release the Eisner nominated Bitter Root. This instantly successful series follows a family of once renowned monster hunters during the Harlem Renaissance. The Sangeryes family battles against beasts which feed upon people's prejudices and their bigoted roaring twenties sensibilities. All the while, the family struggles to keep itself together by navigating the ever rough waters of family conflict. Part supernatural thriller and part family drama, this creator owned period piece had no trouble landing an invested audience.

Just four months after the release of the first issue, Bitter Root was optioned for film by Legendary Entertainment. Though an expected release date is far from being announced, Legendary has signed on Creed and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler to serve as producer alongside Zinzi Evans and Sev Ohanian.

Currently, the first volume of Bitter Root has been released as a trade paperback.
