Worth Reading For: Capullo’s Layouts and An Insanely Adventurous Afterlife.

Bonnie Black has lost her husband, her best friend, her youth and she is not ready to die. She has not made her peace with a creator because she doesn’t believe in one and she has no desire to live out however many days she has left in a Stroke Unit. So, she doesn’t. She soon finds out, however, that the adventure just gets more extreme once you die.

Not really known for his touching, heartfelt storylines, Mark Millar (“Kick Ass”) uses “Reborn” to brandish a feather few people knew he had before he slides it into his cap.

By the end of the first half of the issue you can’t help empathising with Bonnie, understanding that there must be people out there who, no matter how long they’ve lived nor how painful it is to keep going, they just don’t want to die. That is, of course, until you find out the insanity - and the war - that comes after.

To top off the quality of this issue, there’s Greg Capullo’s artwork, one page in particular, which encapsulates a person’s life in an inverted pyramid of shattering screenshots. This is a series to follow.

And that's it for this week! Don't forget to leave a comment below if you think there's a series that deserves to feature in the list next #NewComicsDay!

A. J. S. Scott was created as a homunculus by a mad English Alchemist who was trying to make rum from ink and seawater. He is still a fan of both and he has no comment on what happened to all the ‘No Exit’ signs in Islington Underground Station when he visited for Beltaine. You can send him missives by bribing the Right Raven with sour-strings, or: Instagram: @ajsscott Tumblr: andrew-scott-things.tumblr.com
