The death of Elektra made for one of the most iconic Marvel sequences of the 20th century, and while it was Bullseye who ultimately did the deed, there's no ignoring Kingpin's role in the assassin's death.

From the start of Miller's run, Bullseye and Elektra were Kingpin's two most trusted assassins. Where Elektra was competent in her job, however, Bullseye was not, an aspect of the pair's dichotomous relationship that would foster a lethal kind of resentment. Bullseye was never able to touch Elektra, failed repeatedly to complete Fisk's orders, and played the part of the comic relief for much of Miller's earlier stories.

That all changed when he challenged Elektra to a duel to prove who would become the Kingpin's lead assassin however, and with the shock outcome leading to her death, Fisk unwittingly contributed to one of the most traumatic episodes in Matt Murdock's life.

He might not have wielded the sai that felled Matt's most famous partner, but in humiliating Bullseye and commending Elektra, he fermented the rivalry that would ultimately take her life.
