Batman: 8 Incredibly Dark Joker Moments We'll Never See On Screen

5. The Tunnel Of Love

Alan Moore€™s 1988 work revolutionized not only Batman lore, but comic books in general; helping to define the Modern Age that readers currently find themselves in. Establishing a definitive origin for the Joker, the originally intended one-shot tells of how the man who would be Joker was a failing comedian with a pregnant wife who agrees to help these burglars steal supplies from his chemical company in exchange for some cash. The thieves end up having his wife murdered and Joker himself dives into a vat of toxins to avoid capture by Batman. In the present-day, the Joker decides to prove to Batman that €œAll it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy.€ Assaulting the Commissioner at his home, Joker shoots Barbara and takes Gordon to an old theme park he used to work at. During the Tunnel of Love ride, Gordon is forced to see numerous pictures of his daughter nude and bloody before Batman arrives to save him. Why It Won't Be Done... Fans are definitely hoping that an animated adaptation of The Killing Joke with Mark Hamill returning to the titular role will be made, but any attempts at recreating the Tunnel of Love scene would have to be censored in a real life superhero film. Not only would accusations of misogyny (which the comic itself already suffered from) emerge at a blink€™s notice, but the idea of having a father see his own grown daughter naked is a bit too extreme for society€™s standards. This isn€™t even taking into account all the blood.

Red Stewart is big fan of the entertainment industry, with insights into film, television, and video games for starters. Despite growing up in the 21st century's era of modernization, he prefers many retro era ideas over the current trends found in many of today's media. Personally he's an introvert who loves reading as much as gaming.
