Marvel: 10 Alternate Universes That Deserve To Be Onscreen

4. The Western (Marvel 1872)

A short series of comics that are definitely worth the read, though not getting the notoriety that its Elizabethan counterpart got, Marvel 1872 made a small, contained, yet intriguing story about a small town called Timely - named after Timely Comics, Marvel's precursor - suffering from the iron fist of Mayor Fisk (the Kingpin).

As part of the Secret Wars event, 1872 is one of its most memorable stories that deserves its own standalone tale. In it, the town of Timely is populated by very familiar figures, including the noble veteran of war Sheriff Rogers and the tinkering drunk blacksmith haunted by the deaths caused by the weapons he invented, Stark.

Some other familiar figures include Doctor Banner, who runs the local apothecary, Ben Urich, a reporter that fears Fisk's retribution if he reports honestly, and Lester (Bullseye), one of Fisk's enforcers, as well as the Native American Red Wolf.

It's a short but effective Western tale, and one Marvel fans are liable to enjoy playing out in full glory on the small (or maybe even the big) screen.
