MCU Phase 4: 10 Films That MUST Happen (That Marvel Won't Make)

Don't count on Marvel saving Daredevil just yet...

Asgardians Of The Galaxy
Marvel

Avengers: Endgame will finally draw a curtain on the immensely popular Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing to a close one of the most ambitious movie projects in filmmaking history.

Not satisfied with the regular six person team up of the previous two Avengers movies, Infinity War and Endgame included every major character (and a boatload of the supporting cast) from every MCU film from the past decade.

Phase 4 begins with the Spider-Man sequel Far From Home, but beyond that we don’t know exactly what the future holds. Sequels to Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Guardians are slated, while another film for Thor and Captain Marvel are practically givens, considering how well received their previous efforts were. A Black Widow prequel, a Shang-Chi film and an Eternals movie are all set to follow too.

However, we don’t know the fate of many characters beyond Endgame yet, nor do we know if we’ll see another mammoth team up any time soon. What we do know though is that there are stacks of great storylines and characters that, for one reason or another, Marvel just won’t make.

Either because of contractual issues, teaming up mega stars or just the out and out wackiness of the character, these movies could be brilliant, but they'll never see the light of day.

10. Daredevil

Asgardians Of The Galaxy
Netflix

Daredevil’s Netflix series was by far the best received of the Marvel series on the streaming platform, and many hoped it would be the one to survive the recent cull. Unfortunately, it was not to be, and Daredevil was snuffed out after its third season released late last year.

Charlie Cox was brilliant in the lead role, with an engaging and compelling story for him to carry. Under normal circumstances, this is not a show that needed to worry about the chopping block. Unfortunately, Netflix’s relationship with Marvel was complicated by the creation of Disney+, which would effectively turn Disney into a competitor.

Logistics are the biggest roadblock. Contracts are a complex business, and there are the various studios and production companies involved, plus potentially Netflix, Marvel and Disney+ to contend with.

With all that in mind, if Daredevil does ever join the MCU they might just recast him altogether, as DC did with The Flash. Season 4 was apparently already layed out, but it’s hard to imagine a storyline so rich can be condensed into a movie; not to mention that said movie will have to link up with the rest of the MCU and relies on moviegoers to have seen the other seasons. Unfortunately, it’s just not feasible, despite the Man Without Fear's iconic status.
