MCU's Kate Bishop & The Young Avengers: Everything You Need To Know
2. How Does This All Connect To MCU Canon?
As it stands, the MCU is without a functioning Avengers team. Most of the core members are either dead or retired, that leaves a gaping hole in Earth's defenses. While there are still plenty of heroes left, most are off doing their own thing, or are too scarred from previous events to continue with any kind of Avengers initiative.
Unlike the comics, the MCU has less wiggle room when it comes to reviving old characters, due to contracts expiring and actors inevitably getting older. This means they can't rehash the same Avengers team again and again. This means we are due a new team and what better than to bring in a whole new set of characters.
Barton will be passing the mantle to Kate, but how do the other Young Avengers factor into continuity?
In the source material, Wiccan and Speed were revealed to be the sons of Scarlet Witch, which should link nicely to WandaVision later this year. It's likely that Cassie Lang will play a part too, after setting up an older version of the character during Avengers: Endgame. There are also rumours of Kang The Conqueror becoming the big bad down the line, which opens up the Young Avengers first storyline.
