Red Sonja Movie Reboot: 10 Things We Need To See

4. No Love Interest

This relates to what we said earlier about a secondary male hero. Much as Red Sonja doesn't need men to save her skin, she also most definitely doesn't need a man to validate her.

The gooey romance between Sonja and Kalidor was one of the weakest aspects of the 1985 film, hinging on the old notion that, no matter how independent she may claim to be, all any woman really wants is a big strong guy to take care of her.

To hell with that. We don't need to see this bad-ass warrior woman going on a redemptive journey of self-discovery which exposes her sensitive inner nature. That's not Red Sonja. She acts tough and mean because she is tough and mean, and the fans wouldn't want her any other way.

This isn't to say Sonja's adventures can't see her having a little fun with the opposite sex - or, for that matter, the same sex. But if so, these should be liaisons of the James Bond variety, one and done, with Sonja very much in the 007 role.

Let's face it, there ain't nobody tying down this lady.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
