Moondragon was a character in desperate need of some retooling if she was going to survive, because her time on the Avengers before this did approximately jack squat to appeal her to readers.
So leave it to Dan Abnett to make people really REALLY like her again during her time on the Guardians.
Moondragon's whole deal is being the daughter of Drax, and an actual space dragon in humanoid form. The less said about her time on the Avengers the better, but her time with the Guardians is where she really found her time to shine - just one example being her tumultuous and compelling relationship with Phyla-Vell.
Of course, like everyone on the Abnett team, her time with the Guardians came and went, but she still makes appearances in future books and has remained a mainstay in the Marvel universe ever since, popping up to help out here and there or just to make trouble. Considering how connected she is to so many of the MCU's Guardians, including but not limited to both Mantis and Drax, we just might see this fantastic space bisexual on the big screen soon.
