007 Reasons Why Quantum of Solace is a Great Bond Film

007. Daniel Craig

The best thing about the film, period. I€™d be a hater too if Quantum of Solace featured Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan, for example. But in my mind Daniel Craig is the best Bond, and his portrayal suits this film down to the ground. Any time it goes off the rails, you€™re too busy focusing on Craig to really notice- well, at least, I was. We see him grow as a character and face down his melancholy. You totally believe him when he tells M €œhe never left€. Even here he does seem lighter, even if the film didn€™t quite have a huge sense of fun- when he escapes the elevator and casually glides over the hotel balcony to face M, and when he teases Fields. He owns every moment he€™s on screen, and every moment he€™s not on it you want him back. Can you really say that in the weaker Connery/Moore/Brosnan efforts, especially their later films? Craig makes this film, and I wouldn€™t be defending it if he weren€™t in it. We see some real rich character development, and because he seems to be teetering on going rogue/ being out for revenge, and not quite being the Bond we know and love, he becomes so much more human and relatable.
