Debriefing
So, to conclude, Quantum of Solace was a very different Bond film- an experiment, if you will, that didnt work completely. Now, Ill be the first to point out its flaws- the unavoidable fact it suffered heavily due to the writers strike, that Forster wasnt experienced enough in films of such a scale, that it felt kind of rushed in its short running time- and Ill admit if every Bond successive Bond film was similar to this Id go off the series, but it stands as a bit of a quirk, an oddity in the franchise, but a good one. You could claim For Your Eyes Only, for example, broke the mould, if only fleetingly, as did Licence to Kill, but its diversions like this that keep the franchise fresh and relevant. I feel in years to come people will re-evaluate Quantum of Solace, as they did On Her Majestys Secret Service, with kinder eyes. I dont see it as a good bond film, instead as a good film that happens to feature James Bond.
