10 2016 Movie Characters Who Probably Died Horrible Deaths

5. The Joker - Batman: The Killing Joke

As mediocre as the Killing Joke movie was, it got one thing undeniably right by nailing that sinister ending from the source comic.

After Batman (Kevin Conroy) captures The Joker (Mark Hamill), the Clown Prince of Crime tells him a joke about two mental patients who attempt to escape their incarceration by leaping to an adjoining building.

Once the first man jumps, the second is too scared, so the first man tells him he'll shine a flashlight across the gap that he can walk on. The second man hilariously replies, "What do you think I am, crazy? You'll just turn it off when I'm halfway across!"

Cue Batman and The Joker both bursting into laughter as the camera pans downward. The Joker's laughter then fades out as Batman continues to chuckle, which many have interpreted as indicating that Batman killed The Joker by snapping his neck, hence "the killing joke".

A callous piece of human garbage though The Joker is, that's still a harsh way to kill someone, most of all when carried out by someone with a well-noted "no-kill" rule.
