10 2016 Movies That Are Destined To Disappoint You
3. Suicide Squad
The Buzz: Where to begin? The DC Extended Universe continues to grow with this daring adaptation of the classic super-villain task force, headed up the likes of Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and The Joker (Jared Leto). Leto's performance is naturally earning the lion's share of the buzz, but there's much else to consider, namely the confirmed cameo from Batman (Ben Affleck), as well as how the movie will ultimately tie into the fabric of the DCEU. Why It's Going To Disappoint: Two words: The Joker. There are two very distinct possibilities for the character here: Leto's portrayal will be ceaselessly compared to Heath Ledger's, probably unfavourably, and many may decry the character's lack of screen time, as of course, this is a Suicide Squad movie, not a Joker movie. It'd be nice if we could just accept this new Joker on his own terms, but human nature pretty much dictates that we're all destined to measure him up to what came before, and considering that Ledger won the posthumous Oscar for his work, don't expect Leto to be so universally acclaimed.
