10 2017 Horror Movies To Sate Your Bloodlust Until Halloween

The recently released trailer for John R. Leonetti's Wish Upon does a good job of taking a concept we've seen before and ramping up the crazy a few notches. Based on the tried and true 'careful what you wish for' narrative, Wish Upon follows Claire (Joey King), a teenager who happens upon a magical box that promises to grant her 7 wishes.

Naturally things start to spiral out control as Claire realises the box is in fact granting her wishes, only not in the way she originally intended.

While the concept isn't exactly all that fresh, the talent both behind and in front of the camera gives the film a quiet confidence. Leonetti previously served as the cinematographer for the popular James Wan horror flicks The Conjuring and Insidious, which bodes well for the movie's visuals at least; but with the unfavourable critical reception of his previous directorial effort, Annabelle, Leonetti may be looking for redemption here with a less studio-mandated film.

Joining King in the film are the likes of Ryan Phillipe and Sherilyn Fenn, and the script even made the 2015 blacklist of the best unproduced screenplays, so there's definitely a lot of potential here.

Wish Upon will release on June 30th 2017.

Alex Wyse hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
