10 "Final" Entries In Movie Franchises (That Totally Weren't)

7. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

We shouldn't have fallen for it, should we? He's a dream demon, after all. He died in almost every entry of the film, and something always brought him back to life (including a dog peeing on his dusty bones). This movie really wanted us to believe this was it, though. The Final Nightmare?! Freddy is... DEAD! Audiences flocked to find out how it would all end.

They were treated to a weird backstory, a Johnny Depp cameo, and a 3-D finale. Or was it a finale? Three years after Freddy was sent to hell forever, the originator of Freddy, Wes Craven, decided to make Wes Craven's New Nightmare. He brought Freddy into the "real" world, so technically it wasn't a sequel. So maybe Freddy's death was permanent?

But no. In 2003, the crossover everyone had been clamoring for finally happened, and we learned that Freddy was indeed still alive and ready to face off against the hockey-masked menace in Freddy Vs Jason. In truth, though, it was worth the betrayal to get that last entry.
