10 80s Films That Deserve The TV Reboot Treatment
4. Fast Times At Ridgemont High
Fast Times At Ridgemont Hight followed a year in the lives of several high schoolers. We witness the ups and downs of a diverse group of students as they wrestle with the usual struggles of high school.
With no singular protagonist and a loose narrative structure, Fast Times was the perfect format for studying teen life. It's astute mix of comedy and drama complimented the episodic glimpses of each characters personal struggle creating something that seemed to so accurately portray the teenage condition.
If this format were applied to a TV series focusing on modern teens, it could be something of real merit. High school drama's tend to benefit more from the TV structure as it gives time to each character and allows for smaller condensed stories to eventually contribute to the bigger, overall story.
How It Should Work
Same school but set in the here and now. We follow a new crop of kids through their school year. Some of the original characters now teach at the school and try to remember what it was like to be the student. Each season could cover a whole year and present a different class of kids.
