3. Iona - Pretty in Pink
Screw Molly Ringwald, I much preferred her friend played by Annie Potts. She was older, wiser, more mature, more experienced. She knew what she wanted and wasn't about playing games. While Molly was sitting around angsting, Iona was always there to give rational advice. And at a certain point in life you stop wanting the hot girl who brings the drama, and appreciate the benefits of a confident woman who's seemingly beyond all of that. So she's the Yoda figure of the film, but she still manages to be sweet and funny and complex and edgy. She's actually probably one of the better female characters in terms of writing, now that I think about it, because she shows that a woman doesn't have to pigeon-hole herself into any one category. She can just be herself. And that's ridiculously sexy.
